you can open it as and aniimated seqence, there's a trick involved. It's stupid but it works.
File -> import-> video to layers.
in the dialogue box type "*.*" to show all file types.
select the animated Gif you wish to open. The dialogue will ask you which frames to import
open the animation pallet and you will see all the frames asked for.
The trick is to type in *.* in the File Name Box (Dialogue Box)and then click load, all the unreadable files will show up and then you can import them into layers.
